This guide is the result of many years of work on the Huaca Huasi plateau in the Cumbres Calchaquíes, province of Tucumán. The area is representative of the High Andean Ecoregion of Tucumán and a good part of Catamarca and Salta, so we think that its usefulness can be extended far beyond the study area. It includes the species that can be found above 4000 m above sea level. The works in the area by the first author began back in 1972 and have been maintained until the present time, being included in the framework of the global project GLORIA from 2006.
